Signs Your Brake and Clutch is Crying for Help
They may not be something that you think about very often, but your vehicle’s brake and clutch are features that should always remain in top working condition. Here are the signs you need to look out for to know if your brake or clutch need attention.
Clutch
Most newer vehicle clutch linkages are self-adjusting and cannot be manually adjusted, but if you have an older vehicle some of the symptoms include:
- Engaging or disengaging of the clutch close to the floor board;
- Easily movable clutch pedal, but difficulty with the transmission going into gear; and
- Slipping of the clutch so that it does not fully engage.
If you notice any of these signs or if your clutch pedal is fading or feels strange in any way you need to get your vehicle checked out by a mechanic. A failing clutch can cause you to breakdown while driving! Get it fixed before it’s an issue and keep yourself safe on the road.
Brakes
Brake maintenance is often overlooked by car owners, but keeping your brakes properly calibrated and in good-working order is extremely important for your safety. Here are some of the signs to watch out for that are indications of a failing or worn out bakes:
- A high-pitched screeching sound when brakes are applied;
- The pedal sinks towards the floor and brakes aren’t as responsive as usual;
- Your vehicle pulls to one side while braking;
- Grinding or growling metallic sounds; and

If you notice any of these signs on your vehicles brakes, you need to get it checked out by a mechanic. Getting your brakes fixed before there’s a major issue or damage can prevent costly repairs and more importantly, help you avoid a collision.
